Communication
Communication Flowchart
Recommended Procedure for Parents
At Katherines we understand the importance of relationships and open communication. Communication allows to you explain to someone what you are experiencing and what your needs are. The act of communicating not only helps to meet your needs, but it also helps you to connect with the others around you.
We know that when parents have a concern that relates to their child at school, whether it is pastoral, learning or staffing in nature, that they often feel the best way forward is to ask to see the Head of School. In our experience, many of these concerns can often be most quickly resolved by talking first to the class teacher as they know your children best. However, during the busy start, and end of the school day, it is not always appropriate to have a discussion with a member of staff. If you wish to speak to a member of staff about an issue, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment.
There are a range of different professionals at the schools that you may need to contact.
On the next page is a guide to how you can access the best possible service at Katherines
Primary Academy.
Teachers are available after school for informal conversations and appointments can be made with all of the above by: contacting the school office on 01278 421495 or email the school office at office@katherines.netacacdemies.net. If you are writing to the school, please clearly and succinctly outline your concern or complaint, including who it involves and what you would like the outcome to be.
Our 48 hour promise
At Katherines we aim to respond to your concerns within 2 school days. This may either be through initial contact to discuss your concerns further or to provide an answer. Working in partnership and by clearly signposting the best initial person to speak to, we will provide a high quality service to all families. *Please note that our SENCO is not in every day and therefore responses may be longer than 2 school days due to working patterns.
When is the right time?
Below are some, not all, examples of occasions where you may require to speak your child’s teacher at the beginning or end of the day. Please note, the appropriate channels of communication below to help you, your child’s teacher and child have the best possible way of communicating at school.
We want to ensure that every child is welcomed into school in the best possible way without the teacher being distracted; information about your child is important to us. Please use the office as much as you can. They will be able to record the information you provide and ensure that the teacher receives this at an appropriate time of the school day. Thank you for your support and understanding.
