NET Curriculum
Katherines - NET Curriculum
At Katherines we use the National Curriculum as a minimum. We provide a broad and balanced education that allows for the individual needs of each child to be met within well-planned learning experiences. We have devised our curriculum to prepare pupils to be ‘life ready’ and ready to GROW but what does this mean?
Academic Success
Our rich knowledge-based curriculum means that pupils gain essential knowledge, skills and have the opportunity to be experts in every subject.
Knowledge to be taught each term is shared with pupils and parents at the beginning of the term through subject specific Knowledge Organisers. The retention of knowledge is assessed through in a low stakes high expectation environment e.g, quizzes and recall activities to maximise progress.
Expertise is developed through skills- pupils will understand what it means to be a geographer, historian, scientist, writer, mathematician etc... and work on this throughout their time at Katherines.
See our curriculum page for further information.
Physical Development
Our pupils experience a breadth of physical development lessons where they have access to a wide range of equipment including:
- Archery
- Boccia
- Curling stones
- Gymnastics Vaults
- Hockey
- Football
- Basketball
- Badminton
- Tag Rugby
- Cricket
In addition to formal lessons with a specialist teacher, we run ‘Get Up, Get Going’, sporting excellence clubs, exposure opportunities and more. During social times pupils increase their physical development through organised games and structured equipment which challenges and motivates our pupils to lead healthy lives.
Positive Well-being
At Katherines pupils are encouraged to GROW through an innovative and bespoke GROW program which encompasses pupils’ development of global citizenship, resilience, hard work and emotional well-being. Sessions may include:
- Whole school celebration of personal achievements
- Whole school outings
- Charity Activities
- Community engagement
- Pupil Voice
